100% of profits will go toward the costs of making the film: transporting and housing Native actors, feeding our crew, flying out our DP and producers, and paying for transportation and location fees. Your support of Happy Thanksgiving will go a long way. It will help us bring our film to the international festival circuit, and more importantly: we plan to create talks and workshops around it geared toward the empowerment of Native youth storytellers.

By screening the film and teaching workshops to Anishinaabe and Native communities around the country, on both reservations and urban communities, we hope to help inspire the next generation of Native youth to make their own content and become changemakers of the future.

About the Artist: Ashley Lukashevsky | @ashlukadraws on Instagram
I’m an illustrator + visual artist born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. My heart belongs to Hawaii and LA. I’m currently based in Echo Park. Before moving to illustration full-time, I was the Art Director at KINDLAND and the social impact designer at LA2050– an initiative to create a positive shared future for all Angelenos. I work on all types of illustrations for print, web, and social media.

I dream of using illustration and art as a tool to strengthen social movements against systemic racism, sexism, and general bullshit-isms. I think that in order to tear down these systems, we need to be able to envision a world without them. I’m trying to draw what that world looks like.

Thank you Ashley for donating your art to our fundraiser!
